Do something nice...

Do something nice for your friends or family today...DON'T e-mail them a chain letter or petition, even if you think it's about something they care about. By the time the poor person wades through all the names of people it's been sent to, and all the >>>>> on every line, they'll be REALLY ticked off when they find out that it's all just a hoax, that the little girl/boy isn't dying of cancer after all, and nobody is going to donate ANYTHING as a result of your adding to the Net junk mail, a.k.a. SPAM.

Instead, do something personal which they'll appreciate--send them a Net greeting card or to a URL with a nice picture or message on it. It's much easier on the eyes than an e-mailed chain letter, it's something personal, and something that may brighten their day. Environmentally correct too--no trees destroyed in making the card :-)

All Yours Free Digital Postcards

This site is the best of the greeting card sites, IMO. It has many different languages, pictures and photos, music and backgrounds available, and you can search to find the picture you prefer to go with your message. It even has some pictures with animated java effects--rippling water in the lake, or snow falling. If you'd prefer these animated pics, specify *java* when you search for suitable pictures.

Bowcreek Postcards

This site was originally called "A Passion For Parrots" [grin]. It specializes in greeting cards with photos of parrots, budgies, lovebirds, and cockatiels, as well as cats. Being the bird lover I am, I couldn't pass up this one. It has some other really nice cards too. Highly recommended for sending to bird and cat lovers ;-) Speaking of which...

Sandtracker's Cat Page

This has to be the ultimate cat lovers' page I stumbled across. It has links to cat graphics, including animated cats, cat loss sympathy cards, cat poems, cat quotes, cat links, you name it. This one will keep you busy for a while. /(^_~)\

Is a holiday coming up and you're looking for ways to celebrate, or do you have a child asking questions, such as, where did Santa Claus come from? Here's a page with information and links on the major holidays:

The Wilstar Holiday Page

When I was posting these links, the upcoming holiday was Valentine's Day. Did you know that the original St. Valentine was sentenced to die by the Roman emperor Claudius because he had secretly marrying Roman soldiers? I didn't. I love picking up historical trivia like this.

Rex Stout, and the Nero Wolfe series

Anyone who likes my humorous first person style of writing my fan fiction should have a look at Rex Stout's wonderfully entertaining mystery novels. His Archie Goodwin is my biggest inspiration for the way I write Mamoru in first person in my Sailor Moon fan fiction.

Other favourite mystery writers:

Dorothy Sayers, Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, Erle Stanley Gardner, Ellis Peters.

Romance, Mystery and Suspense novels:

Mary Stewart, Helen MacInnes, Charlotte Armstrong.

Science Fiction, Fantasy & the Supernatural:

Anne McCaffrey, Dean Koontz.

This page last updated on September 19, 1999, and given how much I love to surf the WWW, I expect it to expand exponentially from here on in. [There, didn't that sound more impressive than saying it's under construction? Yeah, I thought so too ;p /(^_~)\ In the meantime, please e-mail me!
